“हामीलाई परीक्षामा पर्न नदिनुहोस् तर हामीलाई दुष्टबाट बँचाउनु होस्।”
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
25. आत्माबाट हामीले नयाँ जीवन पाउँदछौं। जीवनको पथ प्रदर्शनको निम्ति हामीले आत्मालाई पछ्याउनु पर्छ।
26. हामीले अर्कालाई रीस उठाउनु हुँदैन। र हामीले एक-अर्कोको डाह गर्नु हुँदैन।
3. यदि कोही मान्य नहुँदा-नहूँदै पनि आफूलाई मान्य नै संझन्छ भने उसले आफैलाई धोखा दिइरहेकोछ।
7. आफूले आफैलाई धोखा नदेऊ, तिमी परमेश्वरलाई ठग्न सक्दैनौ। मानिसले जे रोप्छ त्यही फल्छ।
8. यदि कसैले आफनै पापपूर्ण खेतमा खेती गर्छ भने उसले विनाश उब्जाउँछ। तर कसैले आत्माको खेतमा खेती गर्छ भने उसले आत्माबाट अनन्त जीवन उब्जाउँछ।
9. राम्रो काम गर्नामा हामी थाक्नु हुँदैन। यदि हामी कर्म गर्न रोकिएनौ भने ठीक समयमा हामी बाली उठाउन पाउँछौं।
16. यो व्यवस्था पालन गर्ने परमेश्वरका सम्पूर्ण जनहरू अनि परमेश्वरका जम्मै मानिसहरू प्रति शान्ति र करूणा रहोस्।
25. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
3. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
7. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
16. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
पाठ सेर्मन
25 भोग्ने छन् निश्चय ब्रमाण्डका न्यायधिशले जे सही छ त्यही गर्नुहुन्छ।
25 Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
1 सारा संसारमा बस्ने विभिन्न भाषा बोल्ने जाति-जातिहरूका मानिसहरूलाई राजा नबूकदनेस्सरबाट तिमीहरूको भलो होस्। भनि पठाए।
2 सर्वोच्च परमेश्वरले मेरो निम्ति गर्नु भएको अद्भूत अनि छक्क-पर्दो चीजहरूको विषयमा तिमीलाई भन्न म अति खुशी छु।
3 उहाँका चिन्हहरू महान छ। उहाँका आश्चर्यपूर्ण कर्महरू शक्तिशाली छन्। उहाँको राज्य सदा-सर्वदा रहिरहने छ। राज्यमा उहाँको प्रभुत्व पुस्तौं पुस्तासम्म रहिरहन्छ।
28 यो सबै सत्य घटना राजा नबूकदनेस्सरमाथि घट्यो।
29 बाह्र महिना पछि राजा आफ्नो महलको कौसीमा घुमिरहेका थिए।
30 जब राजाले भने, बाबेललाई हेर, यो महान शहरको निर्माण मैले आफ्नो शक्तिले गरेको हो। शहरको राजधानी मेरो राज्यले मेरो महोत्तमको गौरव प्रदान गरेकोछ।
31 राजाको मुखबाट यो कुरा निस्की नसक्दै स्वर्गबाट यसो भन्ने आवाज आयो, यो घटनाहरू तपाईंमाथि घट्नेछ, राजा नबूकदनेस्सर तपाईंको राज्य तपाईंबाट खोसिनेछ।
33 फेरि तुरून्तै यो घटना घट्यो, नबूकदनेस्सर मानिसहरूबाट निकालिए, उनले गाईले जस्तो घाँस खान थाले र उनको शरीर आकाशको शीतले भिज्यो, उनको कपाल लामो, गीद्धको प्वाख जस्तो भयो अनि उनको नङ्गहरू चीलका नङ्गा जस्तै लामा लामा भए।
34 तब त्यो अन्तको समयमा म नबूकदनेस्सरले आँखा उठाएर स्वर्गतिर हेरें, अनि मैले सही तरिकाले सोच्न थालेको थिए मैले सम्मान र महिमा दिएँ जो सदा-सर्वदा जीवित हुनुहुन्छ।परमेश्वरले सदा सर्वदा शासन गर्नुहुन्छ। उहाँको राज्य पुस्तैं पुस्ता सम्म चलिरहन्छ।
36 त्यस समयमा परमेश्वरले मेरो बुद्धि मलाई फेरि दिनु भयो। अनि एउटा राजाको रूपमा मेरो मान, सम्मान अनि शक्ति फेरि फर्काई दिनुभयो। मेरो सल्लाहकार अनि राजकीय मानिसहरू फेरि मकहाँ आए। म फेरि पहिलाको भन्दा पनि महान अनि शक्तिशाली राजा भएँ।
37 त्यस पछि म नबूकदनेस्सर स्वर्गको राजाको स्तुति गर्छु तथा उहाँलाई सम्मान अनि महिमा प्रदान गर्छु। उहाँले जे भन्नुहुन्छ ठीक भन्नुहुन्छ।
1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
2 I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.
29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.
34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellers and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
3 तिम्रो आफ्नो घमण्डले तिमीलाई धोका दिएकोछ। तिमी अग्लो पहडहरूको गुफामाहरू बस्नेछौ। तिम्रो घर पहाको अग्लाईमा छ र तिमी आफ्नो मनमा भन्छौ कि ‘मलाई कसैले पनि तल जमीनमा खसाल्न सक्तैंन।
4 परमेश्वर परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, “यद्यपि तिमीले चील जस्तै माथि उड्यौ, अनि आफ्नो गुँड ताराहरूको बीचमा बनायौ भने पनि, म तिमीलाई त्यहाँबाट तल ल्याउँनेछु।
17 तर सियोन पहाडमा केही जीवितहरू हुनेछन्। र सियोन पवित्र हुनेछ।
21 ... शासन गर्नेछन् र राज्य परमप्रभुको हुनेछ।
3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness;
21 …and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.
14 येशू पवित्र आत्माको शक्ति लिएर गालीलमा फर्कूनु भयो। गालीलभरि उहाँको बारेमा समचारहरू फैलियो।
15 उहाँले तिनीहरूको सभा घरहरूमा सिकाउन शुरू गर्नुभयो। सबै मानिसहरूले उहाँको प्रशंसा गरे।
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
9 कतिजना मानिसहरूले सोचे कि तिनीहरू खुबै असल छन्। तिनीहरूले प्रत्येकलाई हेला गर्छन्। येशूले भयोः
10 कुनै एक समयमा फरिसी र एकजना महसूल उठाउने मानिस थिए। एकदिन ती दुवै मन्दिरमा प्रार्थना गर्न गए।
11 फरिसी कर उठाउनेदेखि केही टाडा उभियो। जब त्यो फरिसीले प्रार्थना शुरू गर्यो, त्यसेल भन्यो, हे परमेश्वर, तपाईंलाई धन्यवाद दिन्छु किनभने म अरू जस्तो नराम्रो मानिस होइन। म चोरी, ठग र व्यभिचारी पापहरू र्गदिन। म तपाईंलाई धन्यवाद चढाउँछु कारण म यो महसूल उठाउने जस्तो नराम्रो होइन।
12 म असल छु; हप्तामा दुइपल्ट उपवास बस्छु अनि आफ्नो कमाईबाट दशांश दिन्छु।
13 त्यो महसूल उठाउने एक्लै अलि पर उभिरहेको थियो। जब त्यसले प्रार्थना गरयो, त्यसले स्वर्गपट्टी पनि हेरेन। त्यसले परमेश्वरको अघि आफूलाई अति तुच्छ पायो। त्यसले भन्यो, हे परमेश्वर, म प्रति दया गर्नुहोस्। म एउटा पापी हुँ।
14 म तिमीहरूलाई भन्दछु, जब त्यो घर गयो, त्यो परमेश्वरसंग ठीक थियो। तर त्यो फारिसी, जसले आफूलाई असल हुँ भन्ने सम्झन्थ्यो त्यो परमेश्वरसँग ठीक थिएन। जुन मानिसले आफूलाई ठूलो ठान्दछ त्यो तुच्छ हुनेछ। तर जुन मानिसले आफूलाई तुच्छ ठान्छ त्यो महान हुनेछ।
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
12 त्यो मानिस धन्य हो जो आपत-विपतमा स्थिर रहन्छ, किनकि जाँचको सामना गरिसकेपछि त्यसले जीवनको त्यो मुकुट पाउनेछ, जो परमेश्वरले उहाँलाई प्रेम गर्नेहरूलाई दिने प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभएको छ।
13 यदि कुनै मानिस परमेश्वरले परिक्षामा पार्नु भयो भने उसले यो भन्नुहुँदैन, परमेश्वरले मलाई प्रलोभित गराउँदै हुनु हुन्छ। दुष्टले परमेश्वरलाई परिक्षा तुल्याउन सक्तैन। अनि परमेश्वर स्वयंले कुनै पनि व्यक्तिलाई प्रलोभित तुल्याउनु हुँदैन।
14 एकजना व्यक्तिलाई आफ्नै दुष्ट कुराले प्रलोभित तुल्याउँछ। उसको आफ्नै दुष्ट इच्छाले बाहिर तान्छ अनि उसलाई जालमा फसाउँछ।
15 दुष्ट इच्छाबाट पाप जन्मन्छ। जब पाप बढछ, यसले मृत्यु जन्माउँछ।
16 मेरा प्रिय भाइ-बहिनीहरू, मूर्ख नबन।
17 सबै असल कुरा परमेश्वरबाट आउँछ। अनि हरेक पक्का उपहार परमेश्वरबाट आएको हो। यी सब असल उपहारहरू उहाँ पिताबाट आउँछन् जसले स्वर्गका सम्पूर्ण ज्योतिहरू निर्माण गर्नु भयो। तर छाँया ती ज्योतिहरूबाट बद्लिए जस्तो परमेश्वर कहिल्यै परिवर्त्तन हुनुहुँदैन। उहाँ सदैव समान रहनुहुन्छ।
18 सत्यको वचनबाट परमेश्वरले हामीलाई उहाँको बालक बनाउने निर्णय लिनु भयो। उहाँले सृजना गरेको वस्तुहरू मध्ये हामीलाई सब भन्दा महत्वपूर्ण बनाउनु इच्छा गर्नुभयो।
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
6 तर परमेश्वरको दया जो हामीलाई दिइएको छ, त्यो महान छ। धर्म शास्त्रले भनेको जस्तै, घमण्डी मानिसहरूको विरूद्ध परमेश्वर हुनुहुन्छ, तर उहाँले ती मानिसहरूलाई दया प्रदान गर्नु हुन्छ जो विनम्र छन्।
7 यसर्थ तिमीहरू स्वयंलाई परमेश्वरमा अर्पण गर। शैतानको विरोध गर, अनि तिमीहरूदेखि शैतान भाग्नेछ।
8 परमेश्वरको नजिक आऊ अनि परमेश्वर तिमीहरूको नजिक आउनु हुनेछ। तिमीहरू पापी हौ। यसर्थ तिमीहरूको जीवनदेखि पाप धोउ। जब तिमीहरू दुवै परमेश्वरको अनि संसारको सेवा गर्छौ तिमीहरूको दुइवटा मन छ। यसर्थ तिमीहरूको विचार शुद्ध तुल्याऊ।
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
1 परमप्रभु, देवताहरूका पनि परमेश्वर बोल्नु भयो। सूर्योदयदेखि र सूर्यास्तसम्म उहाँले सबैलाई पृथ्वीमा बोलाउनु भयो।
6 परमेश्वर न्यायी हुनुहुन्छ र आकाशले उहाँको धार्मिकता प्रकट गर्नेछ।
14 यसैले अरूहरूसँग बाँडचुँड गरे पछिको धन्यवादको अर्पणहरू लिएर मसित हुनलाई आऊ। तिमीहरूले उच्चतम परमेश्वरलाई वचनहरू दिएका छौ, यसैले ती वचनहरू पूरा गर।
15 परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, तिमीहरूलाई दुःख परेको बेला मलाई पुकारा गर म सहयोग गर्नेछु। अनि त्यसपछि तिमीहरूले मलाई सम्मान गर्न सक्छौ।
1 The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself.
14 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
EOMस्वर्गमा जस्तो, पृथ्वीमा पनि तपाईंको इच्छा पूरा होस्।
हामीलाई यो जान्न समर्थ बनाउनुहोस् कि — स्वर्गमा झैँ पृथ्वीमा पनि — परमेश्वर सर्वशक्तिमान् र सर्वोच्च
हुनुहुन्छ। अनि हामीलाई परीक्षामा नपार्नुहोस्, बरु दुष्टताबाट बचाउनुहोस्;
अनि परमेश्वरले हामीलाई परीक्षामा पार्नुहुन्न, बरु पाप, रोग र मृत्युबाट बचाउनुहुन्छ।
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Enable us to know, — as in heaven, so on earth, — God is omnipotent, supreme.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
And God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.
परमेश्वरको स्वरूपमा रचिएको मानिसले सम्पूर्ण पृथ्वीमाथि उहाँको प्रभुत्व धारण गर्दछ र त्यसलाई प्रतिविम्बित गर्दछ। परमेश्वरसँगै सह-अस्तित्वमा रहेका र अनन्तकालसम्म रहने स्त्री र पुरुषले महिमामय गुणसहित अनन्त 'पिता-माता' परमेश्वरलाई प्रतिविम्बित गर्दछन्।
Man, made in His likeness, possesses and reflects God's dominion over all the earth. Man and woman as coexistent and eternal with God forever reflect, in glorified quality, the infinite Father-Mother God.
क्रिश्चियन साइन्सले मानवीय इच्छाशक्तिलाई शान्त पार्छ, सत्य र प्रेमद्वारा डरलाई हटाउँछ, तथा बिरामीलाई निको पार्ने कार्यमा ईश्वरीय शक्तिको सहज गतिलाई स्पष्ट पार्छ। रोग निको पार्ने ईश्वरीय चेतना ले स्वार्थ, ईर्ष्या, तीव्र आवेग, अहङ्कार, घृणा र प्रतिशोधको भावनालाई हटाउँछ। सामञ्जस्यको ईश्वरीय सिद्धान्तलाई लुकाउँदै झूटको रचना र सञ्चालन गर्ने मानवीय इच्छाशक्ति स्वास्थ्यका लागि विनाशकारी हुन्छ; यो रोगको उपचार नभई रोगको कारण बन्छ।
Christian Science silences human will, quiets fear with Truth and Love, and illustrates the unlabored motion of the divine energy in healing the sick. Self-seeking, envy, passion, pride, hatred, and revenge are cast out by the divine Mind which heals disease. The human will which maketh and worketh a lie, hiding the divine Principle of harmony, is destructive to health, and is the cause of disease rather than its cure.
'सत्य' लाई बुझ्नुअघि सत्यको आध्यात्मिक बोध प्राप्त गर्नु आवश्यक छ। इमानदार, निस्वार्थी, स्नेही र नम्र हुँदा मात्र यस्तो बोध आत्मसात् गर्न सकिन्छ। 'इमानदार र असल हृदय' रूपी माटोमा नै यसको बीउ रोप्नुपर्छ; अन्यथा यसले धेरै फल दिँदैन, किनकि मानव स्वभावमा रहेको पशुवत प्रवृत्तिले यसलाई उखेलेर फ्याँकिदिन्छ।
The spiritual sense of truth must be gained before Truth can be understood. This sense is assimilated only as we are honest, unselfish, loving, and meek. In the soil of an "honest and good heart" the seed must be sown; else it beareth not much fruit, for the swinish element in human nature uproots it.
पश्चात्ताप, आध्यात्मिक बप्तिस्मा र नव-जीवनको माध्यमबाट मानिसहरूले आफ्ना भौतिक धारणाहरू र मिथ्या व्यक्तित्वलाई त्याग्छन्। "तिनीहरू सबैले मलाई चिन्नेछन् — सानादेखि ठूलासम्म सबैले" — यो केवल समयको कुरा हो। जड पदार्थका दाबीहरूलाई अस्वीकार गर्नु भनेको आत्माको आनन्द, मानवीय स्वतन्त्रता र शरीरमाथि अन्तिम विजय प्राप्त गर्ने दिशामा एउटा ठूलो पाइला हो।
स्वर्ग र सामञ्जस्य प्राप्त गर्ने एउटै मात्र मार्ग छ, र 'डिभाइन साइन्स' ले हामीलाई त्यो मार्ग देखाउँछ। त्यो मार्ग भनेको असल कुरा, परमेश्वर र उहाँको प्रतिविम्बबाहेक अन्य कुनै वास्तविकता नजान्नु वा जीवनको अन्य कुनै चेतना नराख्नु, तथा इन्द्रियजन्य भनिने सुख-दुःखभन्दा माथि उठ्नु हो।
आत्म-प्रेम कुनै ठोस वस्तुभन्दा पनि बढी अपारदर्शी हुन्छ। धैर्यवान् परमेश्वरप्रति धैर्यपूर्वक आज्ञापालन गर्दै, आउनुहोस्, हामी 'प्रेम' नामक सर्वव्यापी विलायक को प्रयोग गरी 'भ्रम' वा 'त्रुटि' को त्यो कठोर चट्टानलाई — अर्थात् आत्म-इच्छा, आत्म-समर्थन र आत्म-प्रेमलाई — पगाल्न प्रयत्न गरौं; किनकि यी कुराहरू आध्यात्मिकताको विरुद्ध लड्छन् र पाप तथा मृत्युको नियम हुन्।
Through repentance, spiritual baptism, and regeneration, mortals put off their material beliefs and false individuality. It is only a question of time when "they shall all know Me [God], from the least of them unto the greatest." Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards the joys of Spirit, towards human freedom and the final triumph over the body.
There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no other reality — to have no other consciousness of life — than good, God and His reflection, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses.
Self-love is more opaque than a solid body. In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error, — self-will, self-justification, and self-love, — which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death.
अस्तित्वको विज्ञानले मानिस र अमरत्वलाई 'आत्मा' मा आधारित रहेको कुरा प्रकट गर्दछ।
The Science of being reveals man and immortality as based on Spirit.
भौतिक इन्द्रियहरूको मिथ्या प्रमाण 'आत्मा' को साक्ष्यभन्दा सर्वथा भिन्न र विपरीत हुन्छ। भौतिक इन्द्रियहरूले यथार्थताको दम्भका साथ यसो भन्छन्:
"म पदार्थको वैभवमा आसीन छु। तर एउटा सामान्य स्पर्श, कुनै दुर्घटना वा परमेश्वरको नियमले जुनसुकै क्षण मेरो शान्तिलाई नष्ट गर्न सक्छ; किनकि मेरा सबै काल्पनिक सुखहरू विनाशकारी हुन्छन्। बाहिर निस्कने लाभाझैँ म फैलिन्छु त केवल आफ्नै निराशाका लागि, र भस्म पार्ने आगोको चम्किलो आभाका साथ म चम्किन्छु।"

The false evidence of material sense contrasts strikingly with the testimony of Spirit. Material sense lifts its voice with the arrogance of reality and says:
I am enthroned in the gorgeousness of matter. But a touch, an accident, the law of God, may at any moment annihilate my peace, for all my fancied joys are fatal. Like bursting lava, I expand but to my own despair, and shine with the resplendency of consuming fire.
Spirit, bearing opposite testimony, saith:
I am Spirit. Man, whose senses are spiritual, is my likeness. He reflects the infinite understanding, for I am Infinity. The beauty of holiness, the perfection of being, imperishable glory, — all are Mine, for I am God. I give immortality to man, for I am Truth. I include and impart all bliss, for I am Love. I give life, without beginning and without end, for I am Life. I am supreme and give all, for I am Mind. I am the substance of all, because I am that I am.

Since God is All, there is no room for His unlikeness. God, Spirit, alone created all, and called it good. Therefore evil, being contrary to good, is unreal, and cannot be the product of God. A sinner can receive no encouragement from the fact that Science demonstrates the unreality of evil, for the sinner would make a reality of sin, — would make that real which is unreal, and thus heap up "wrath against the day of wrath." He is joining in a conspiracy against himself, — against his own awakening to the awful unreality by which he has been deceived. Only those, who repent of sin and forsake the unreal, can fully understand the unreality of evil.

Though error hides behind a lie and excuses guilt, error cannot forever be concealed. Truth, through her eternal laws, unveils error. Truth causes sin to betray itself, and sets upon error the mark of the beast. Even the disposition to excuse guilt or to conceal it is punished. The avoidance of justice and the denial of truth tend to perpetuate sin, invoke crime, jeopardize self-control, and mock divine mercy.

Evil is a negation, because it is the absence of truth. It is nothing, because it is the absence of something. It is unreal, because it presupposes the absence of God, the omnipotent and omnipresent. Every mortal must learn that there is neither power nor reality in evil.
Evil is self-assertive. It says: "I am a real entity, overmastering good." This falsehood should strip evil of all pretensions. The only power of evil is to destroy itself. It can never destroy one iota of good.
Mortal mind is ignorant of self, or it could never be self-deceived. If mortal mind knew how to be better, it would be better. Since it must believe in something besides itself, it enthrones matter as deity. The human mind has been an idolater from the beginning, having other gods and believing in more than the one Mind.

If we have triumphed sufficiently over the errors of material sense to allow Soul to hold the control, we shall loathe sin and rebuke it under every mask. Only in this way can we bless our enemies, though they may not so construe our words. We cannot choose for ourselves, but must work out our salvation in the way Jesus taught. In meekness and might, he was found preaching the gospel to the poor. Pride and fear are unfit to bear the standard of Truth, and God will never place it in such hands.

The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease, and death; and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allness of God, or good. Sickness to him is no less a temptation than is sin, and he heals them both by understanding God's power over them.
